A single Otter

It’s cooling down on the west coast it’ll help with the wild fires as will the heavy rain predicted for Oregon. I was surprised by this Otter alone on an old dock.

I haven’t seen very many Otters roaming the slough solo, they are social animals.

He took notice deciding to ignore me in short order. He is most likely a young male turned out of the den to start his own colony.

It gets tiring messing around on a dock.

This photo is a hint that this is a young male, Otters don’t sleep exposed as he is.

He’s back at it after a short snooze, and he means business. I noticed a ruckus to the South in the slough earlier, it was his parents running him off. He then hung around with me for over an hour this morning.
